For Year III, we’ll have 2 installments of TWIWFL each week, one covering injuries and roster moves, and the other with some overall league news.
#BER
The Bärin had a variety of injuries after their first game, with the most important being Osi Umenyiora missing a couple weeks. Look for Michael Johnson and Calvin Pace to get some more snaps as a result.
#BOS
The Bulldogs will be without a starter on each side of the ball for a couple of weeks, with both C Nick Mangold and DL Richard Seymour going down. Charlie Ane and Joe Klecko should pick up the slack.
#CTO
While both Jared Allen and Calais Campbell‘s injuries are relatively minor, losing both at the same time weakens the defensive line significantly. Joe Robb and Carl Eller will see more time.
#DUB
Starting LB Clay Mathews, Jr. will be out several months. The Damhas are hoping Alec Ogletree and newly added Gary Weaver can fill in.
#IST
Antonio Brown will be out for a couple months. That’s certainly a blow, but with Hines Ward and Crazy Legs Hirsch on hand, the Janissaries should do fine.
#LOM
The Dzidudu ended up with 7 players on IR this week, and while Henry Ellard, Greg Zuerlein, and Thurman Thomas are all due back shortly, Adam Timmerman will be out for several months. Willie Colon should step in for Timmerman.
#LON
Starting S Earl Thomas will miss about a month, with George Wilson likely to step into the starting lineup.
#SFO
The Sea Lions had a very rough week for injuries: after rolling up over 200 receiving yards, Terrell Owens will miss a few months, and both starting safeties–Ronnie Lott and Eric Reid–are out for a while as well. Joey Browner and Sammy Knight will replace Lott and Reid.
