London is pushing to remain in the conversation of the elite of the league: the offense has all the tools, the question is if the defense can step up.
Key Additions: Tim Wright from BOS; Troy Vincent from SYD.
Key Departures: Mackenzy Bernadeau {9, to BER}; Hollywood Henderson {4, to AMS}; Marshawn Lynch {8, to NYG}; Bobby Maples {6}; Zach Miller {5}; Mel Renfro {6, to BER}.
Rookies To Watch: Mike Baab, Nate Newton
QB
Russell Wilson {21} doesn’t really get the respect he deserves, as he is performing at an elite level in the WFL. He returns as the starting QB, backed up by Troy Aikman {1} and Matt Moore.
RB / WR / TE
Emmitt Smith {5} leads the running attack, with promising youngster Shaun Alexander behind him. Both Glenn Presnell {1} and rookie Tarik Cohen are expected to contribute as well.
The Three Amigos may need a new name, as the entire receiving corps looks quite strong heading into Year III. It’s led, as always, by the original 3: Steve Largent, {20} Michael Irvin {11}, and Dez Bryant {8}. But the gap between those and their backups–Percy Harvin {3}, Paul Skansi, and Gary Garrison–is relatively small.
Tim Wright {4} joins from Boston as the leading halfback, and Pettis Norman should help at TE as well.
OL
Year II revelation Rayfield Wright {12} and Walter Jones {11} return as starters at T, and rookie Nate Newton joins Zack Martin {5} at G. At C, a preseason battle resulted in a bit of a surprise, as rookie Mike Baab beat out Mark Stepnoski {1} for the starting job at C.
DL
Too Tall Jones {10} and Jacob Green {7} remain dominant on the outside, but London is then behind them, especially with Jay Ratliff‘s {5} move to DT (where a logjam of talent meant he actually moved to the taxi squad). Cortez Kennedy {9} and Kevin Williams {7} start on the inside, but again there are questions about depth for the Fog.
LB
The starting LB corps is quite storng, with DeMarcus Ware {12} and Chuck Howley flanking Bobby Wagner {6}.
DB
Troy Vincent {3} joins Richard Sherman {7} as the starting CBs, with Earl Thomas {8} and Kam Chancellor {9} returning at S.
ST
London retained both kickers, with Dan Bailey {1} and Jon Ryan both returning for Year III. Cohen and Harvin will split the return duties.
