03.12 – This Week in Whirled Football

Another set of bye weeks in the books!

One week until the final big draft of the year, so injuries and changes in lineups are pretty crucial right now. The biggest news–by far–is that all-world RB Jim Brown will miss 2 months for Rio de Janeiro.

It’s been a hard year for RBs in the Southish division: Brown, Franco Harris, and Earl Campbell (the starting RB’s for the top 3 teams) have all missed significant time.

The Bärin are struggling to find the right balance at RB as Walter Payton continues to be unable to find his form. The task just got harder as both Neal Anderson and Pierre Thomas are out with injuries: in addition to more carries for George Gulyanics, look for Jason Snelling and Joe Laws to get a few touches.

#NYG

New York will lose starting T Pete Henry for about 2 months, with Ereck Flowers looking like his likely replacement. Additionally, Don Cockroft, solid so far as a punter, is out and the Royal Giants picked up Nick Harris to take over.

#RIO

The Carnival will turn to Jamaal Charles in Brown’s absence, hoping he can recover his form from Year I, with Doc Elliott and Jerald Sowell behind him.

#ROM

Ben Agajanian was already in danger of losing his job as a PK; his injury just made the choice easier as the Roman Empire pick up Cary Blanchard to take over the kicking duties.
