01.15 This Week in Whirled Football

Injuries are getting more impactful in some ways, as there is less time to recover ahead of the postseason.

#AMS

Well at least this week the injuries were people already on IR … there is some good news for Amsterdam, as their secondary returns to full health with the return of Night Train Lane and Jack Christiansen. TE is decimated: look for Charlie Sanders and Dante Rosario to get some snaps there.

#BOS

Two important game time decisions for the Bulldogs: all-WFL DE Mark Gastineau may be able to play, as may Curtis Martin, who has been out since week 8.

#CTO

The Makana lost a starter on either side of the line, as Steve Hutchinson and Sharrif Floyd will both miss the rest of the season. Look for Ted Larsen and Linval Joseph to see more game time as a result.

#SFO

The Sea Lions continue to lead their division, despite being hammered by injuries. Terrell Owens, Bob St. Clair, and Kenny Vaccaro join the wounded this week, but the real damage continues to be at RB, where 5 players are on IR, leaving Pierre Thomas to carry the load.

#SYD

Dwight Clark had become the Great White’s #2 receiver, but he’ll miss the rest of the season. Before his emergence, Jeremy Maclin and Brian Hartline had been doing alright, so look for them to step back up.

#TOK

Tokyo’s success is directly related to them being perhaps the healthiest team in the league. Currently, only 4 players on their original roster are on IR, and of those, only 3 (TE Julius Thomas, WR Rod Smith, and DB Champ Bailey) were projected to get much playing time.
