01.02 This Week in Whirled Football

Welcome to our weekly review of major injuries, roster moves, and other miscellany related to the WFL, organized by team for your viewing pleasure.

#BER

With Matt Bryant‘s injury this week, Berlin is searching for a placekicker. Look for Kevin Butler to be added to the roster in time for the next game.

#CTO

The devastating injury to Adrian Peterson may be the most influential in the league yet. There is really no replacing AP, but John David Crow will help some, while Jim Dray should pick up some of the workload for Matt Asiata, also injured in their previous game.

#DUB

The injury bug continues to plague the Damhas, with no fewer than 5 players joining the walking wounded in Dublin. The most impactful is probably Darren Sharper‘s 4 month absence. Look for Chad Stanley to take over the punting from Tim Masthay, with two players who were just added to the taxi squad last week–Brandon Harris and Aaron Kampman–both being activated for this week, in addition to highly touted RB Arian Foster.

#LON

The Fogs’ defense, a key to their 2-0 start, may suffer with injuries to both Jacob Green and Bruce Irvin. Look for Cliff Avril and Jeremy Mincey to increase their roles.

#NYG

With starting corner Prince Amukamara lost for the season, look for Tom Landry and DeMetrius McCray to share the primary duties across from Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie.

#TOK

With Julius Thomas out for 2 months and Rod Smith 4, Tokyo’s offensive struggles look to expand past their difficulties at QB. Wes Welker may see some time at wideout, and Beau Brinkley was brought in straight to the active roster in reaction to the injuries.
