At the end of the day, you need a good quarterback to win, and if Mike Glennon is the answer, you’re clearly asking the wrong question. The Red Stars have some talent, and the defense could be strong, but at the end of the day, there just isn’t enough under center for them to threaten.
OFFENSE
Pro Basic 1 – Pro Set
Other than Glennon, I do like this offense: Warrick Dunn and Alfred Morris in the backfield and Pierre Garcon, Bobby Mitchell, and Art Monk as receivers give them a lot of weapons, and while the line is a little weak, it should suffice. My guess is a lot of inconsistency, with Glennon being kept on a pretty short leash.
DEFENSE
4-3; 6-2; 2-4
Derrick Brooks and Ronde Barber are fantastic, but the strength of this team is up front, where the challenge is finding a way for Warren Sapp, Dave Butz, and Gerald McCoy to be on the field at the same time. It’s a strong unit, and probably will do better than the offense over the course of the season.
COACHING TENDENCIES
Strong run, increased screen, reduced bomb.
