For the deepest receiving corps in the league, the key to the season is the backfield: if LaDainian Tomlinson has a monster year, V will make the playoffs; regardless, there shall be points.
OFFENSE
3WR1RB – I Formation
If Philip Rivers‘ arm stands up, the team should put a lot of points on the board. Opposing defenses will have to cope with Lance Alworth, John Jefferson, Kellen Winslow, and Antonio Gates. And that’s just the starters: look for at least one of the bench receivers to have a great year as well, with my money on Tim Brown. The offensive line is strong, and running behind Ron Mix and Jim Otto should help Tomlinson.
DEFENSE
4-3; 6-3; 4-2
It’s really a shame Addis has to play defense as well. The line is strong, anchored by Howie Long and Gary Johnson, but other than Junior Seau and perhaps Khalil Mack, the defense suffers from there, especially in the secondary.
COACHING TENDENCIES
Strong pass, reduced medium in favor of long/bomb.
